Category: wixui Group: v3.0 Status: Open >Resolution: Accepted Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Nick2893 (nick2893) Assigned to: Bob Arnson (barnson) >Summary: Add support to WixUI to make background bitmap optional Initial Comment: When editing the License.rtf file with Microsoft WordPad, all is well. However, I created a medium- length License.rtf file and saved this with Microsoft Word 2003 SP2. Contents included below. I added <UIRef Id="WixUI_Minimal" /> to the product.wxs sample file in "first" directory. Once I got my MSI and started it, the first screen was BLANK where the text box with the license file and the scroll bar for it should be. Moving the mouse over the scroll bar, clicking where the text box should be, and using my scroll wheel caused the missing text box and scroll bar to reappear. Here is my license.rtf: This is my program. It has a license. Enjoy! And so we go on and on and on. What, John Rugby! I pray thee, go to the casement, and see if you can see my master, Master Doctor Caius, coming. If he do, i' faith, and find any body in the house, here will be an old abusing of God's patience and the king's English. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Bob Arnson (barnson) Date: 2006-11-13 07:01 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=26581 This bug affects any dialog set where a rich edit control is in the first modal dialog. (That's why WixUI_Mondo doesn't repro.) If you use WordPad to save the file, the rich edit control paints correctly. If you omit or even just hide the bitmap, the rich edit control paints correctly. Rearranging the controls has no effect, however, so WixUI can't work around the problem. I'll leave the bug open for future consideration to make the bitmap optional, probably as part of WixUI_Advanced's extension code. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Bob Arnson (barnson) Date: 2006-10-27 16:02 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=26581 I can repro the problem with the license file you attached in any dialog set that shows a license on the first wizard page. The workaround is to save the file with WordPad. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nick2893 (nick2893) Date: 2006-10-27 13:20 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1541099 When I use, UIRef Id="WixUI_Mondo" The license shows up fine. This leads me to believe there may be an error with the order of controls (front vs. back), or perhaps an invalidation is needed. If this was only a problem with Word vs. WordPad why would it only show up in WixUI_Minimal ? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Bob Arnson (barnson) Date: 2006-10-27 04:43 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=26581 Windows Installer uses the Windows rich-edit control, which doesn't support "modern" RTF that Word generates. Open and save it in WordPad and it'll work. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=642714&aid=1585388&group_id=105970 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
