Category: None Group: None Status: Open Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Martin Lavelle (hypercaust) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Generate a specific DiskId (cabinet) Initial Comment: I would like to be able to tell the linker to build a particular DiskId, without generating anything else (No tables or other cabs). This would empower clever builds which are smart enough to know which .wxs files and which media a particular .cab derives from, by enabling then to cab what has is necessary. I'm sure you know that cabbing is the slowest part by far. It takes hours on large msi's, and there's often file changes at the last minute. This would be a big deal to larger software houses and high code churn projects. I'm sure you know that build times are a hot issue. P.S.
