Understood. In the interim, I created a local SVN repository and have a common
SVN / CVS working copy so that I can easily track and merge my changes and the
CVS updates.
I suppose your "day job" probably gets in the way of your WiX time anyway. :-)

It may be the fact that I haven't used CVS in so long, I keep expecting
it to behave like SVN; I forgot to add the -d flag during update. Sorry
for being so quick to jump to the wrong conclusion, and I definitely
should have browsed the online repository.
Any chance of migrating away from CVS and towards a more modern revision
control system? :-)
