This bug has been moved to v4, I would like to request that is put back to v3.5 as it is a pretty serious problem for installs and is regularly reported on the mailing list. Trying to explain to end users that there isn't a problem and they have to cancel and re-run the install is not really acceptable.

You can click "Return" and when you click "Install" is is displayed again. If you cancel the install and rerun it it works ok. This doesn't happen very often and seems to happen with any WiX generated MSI including the Wix3,msi - I have never seen it with any other MSIs. The problem occurs with Windows Installer 3.1 and 4.5. I have reproduced the problem using WixUI_Advanced and have attached the project and log files for both a working install and a failed install. I have the install in a failed state in a VM snapshot if anyone has any further questions. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Neil Sleightholm (nsleigh) Date: 2010-02-14 01:40 Message: This may not be relevant but I have done some more experiments and it seems to be related to the license dialog, if I remove it I don't get the failure. Also, comparing the logs for failure and success the order in which license accepted and file cost complete happens seems to be the only difference. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Bob Arnson (barnson) Date: 2010-02-13 06:07 Message: wixui is involved but not the cause; the same behavior has been reproduced using a .vdproj .msi package too. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Neil Sleightholm (nsleigh) Date: 2010-02-13 04:07 Message: This also happens in WiX 3.5 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Neil Sleightholm (nsleigh) Date: 2010-02-13 03:47 Message: Add attachments ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=642714&aid=2951181&group_id=105970 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Download Intel® Parallel Studio Eval Try the new software tools for yourself.
