I started using a .bat file after downloading the source code at
http://wixextba.codeplex.com/ and seeing how Neil was using the MSBuild
commands. Here at work I tend to just re-type the command in a VSCmd box
and not use the bat file, as I do not do wix 3.8 source builds very often
here. But at home where my intent is to figure out how to get VS2013 to
build the Wix 3.8 code both as a learning exercise and to help others in the
future, and since VS2013RC does not have the VSCmd box so far as I can tell,
I created bat files. Mostly I am finding and fixing issues in the msbuild
.*proj, .targets, and .props files, often by duplicating and modifying
existing code, such as tests for a VS specific path. Occasionally I try
passing a property change in the bat file as an experiment and then if it
works I figure out where in the msbuild process the property should be set,
eliminating the entry in the .bat file. However in the course of doing this
effort I also researched and figured out how to write a bat file which
assures that msbuild is launched with elevated privileges when launching
OneTimeWixBuildInitialization.proj, which was the point of my suggestion to
provide a .bat for that situation (in contrast to the suggestion to clarify
the documentation that elevated privileges are needed to build
OneTimeWixBuildInitialization.proj. But it is a minor point and not really
my key focus. If I find a way to make a msbuild proj file insist on
elevated privileges I will try that out.

The posts yesterday on using git were very interesting. I will try to get
up to speed on git so that I can put these changes in a 'fork??' so others
can review what I am doing and provide advice.
