I've been working on the Vista PostQuitMessage/WM_QUIT issue again (http://wixtoolset.org/issues/4114/) and have found that changing the code to use HWND_MESSAGE makes the problem worse, by causing PostQuitMessage to do nothing when the installer is run as a normal process in addition to via a system process/service.
