this is my fault. LocalCache is failing on your machine. I wrote
the LocalCache feature for Office 2003. There were two or three subtle
bugs that didn't show up until some serious patches were sent out. You

rationale for posting this here is “if the MS Office crew can’t
second-guess these failures, how can mere mortals make a 100% fool-proof
installer?” I have attached an image which basically shows that
these updates failed - Update for Outlook 2003 Junk Email Filter
(KB917149) Security Update for Word 2003 (KB917334) Security Update for PowerPoint 2003 (KB916518) Looking at about the last 14 days of my
WindowsUpdate.log file, and having watched for at least 3 or 5 days sessions
where Office 2003 Autoupdates consistently failed for these 3 packages, I
wonder what can be done to remedy this situation. Nothing significant has changed on the particular
computer (Windows XP Pro, all patches etc) that I’m having troubles with. Can I delete a folder, change a registry key, or do a
