Well I am not using .NET. I've got a VB6 COM+ App, and I am going through some of the same things.
Thanks to a comment on this thread, about using .NET and setting the register to vsdrfCOM, I was able to generate a list of registry keys for my server in about 45 seconds, and that includes reading the documentation for dark, botching the command line once, and changing the configuration once too. I have yet to test the install/uninstall cycle, but my gut tells me it will be cleaner. Have you tried uninstalling a component that uses self register? Good luck. Next time read the responses, and try them before just telling everyone to stick it.
