I've spelunked through the SourceForge mailing archive, as well as the tutorial, but can not find any concrete examples that seem to address the type of setup I am attempting (or maybe they do and my only cursory understanding of the Windows Installer is preventing me from grokking)...
Our product installs on a Windows XPE (XP Embedded) target machines. The folder scheme we need to use does not fit the "Program Folders\<company name>\<product name>" paradigm that the Windows Installer seems to assume. The target machines have two hard drive partitions, C: and E: and we must install components into several folders on both partitions. We also need to install some components to Windows system areas, but not in the standard folders that seem to be supported by WiX (for example, we need to install custom .cur files to C:\Windows\Cursors). The destination folders for the various components are fixed and we are not at liberty to change them at this point. In my previous job, using InstallShield Express, specifying different target folders, even on different drives, for various file groups was straightforward. I must confess that accomplishing the same using WiX has me quite befuddled... Are there any examples anywhere that someone can point me at for using WiX to build such a setup... an msm or msi that installs files to multiple fixed folder locations on multiple partitions? Any pointers or dope-slaps anyone wants to provide will be greatly appreciated...
