I am currently working to get all of our self-registering files ported over to being installed with static registry keys (I tried to use the Class, Appid, and Typelib table stuff, but didn't really get anywhere fast, so I just went to the static registry entries like Rob M. suggests). Anyway, we have a handful of Com Interop assemblies that need to be registered, so I used tallow to extract the appropriate information. However, here is where my problem comes in: these interops are currently under development. The versions change with each evening's build. I am not set up to be able to parse this information out for each build (currently). Is this what I will have to do, or does wix/msi provide some type of file version reference (similar to [#filekey] or [$componentkey])?
