If you're defaulting to versioned directories to handle side-by-side 
versioning, you want to keep the hard-coding. I was in a similar boat 
and had to go up a few levels to avoid people trying to "flatten" the 
hierarchy and breaking multiple apps. Remember, if you make something 
foolproof...<g>
