It's not clear to me that this strategy works in two scenarios: 1) You find some version of the VC++ runtimes but it's not the right level. It's (say) VS 2005 but maybe you really need VS 2005 SP1.
2) All the VC++ runtimes are correctly installed, but they were installed using merge modules so there's actually no need to install anything anyway. You won't find that redist ProductCode so you'll presumably ask someone to run it.
