I guess msiexec runs the msi as LocalSystem? (just to verify try -U
[sqluser] -P [sqlpwd] instead of -E? or check the sqllog for failed
login attempts )

Subject: [WiX-users] OSQL query fails with msiexec!
I have an OSQL query which runs a select statement to determine the sql
engine version on the target machine in a VBScript Custom action, it
works fine when I run the MSI by double clicking it, but when I attempt
to do a msiexec /i "xyz.msi" the osql command fails and the select
doesn't return any returns...
My osql uses the following switches -E -S -Q
Any ideas?
