This is not a limitation of WiX, but rather a requirement imposed upon
all of us by using Windows Installer.
While I agree 100% with what Dana wrote, I have to say that the original
poster also has a valid point. There are a lot of things which could
very easily be accomplished using managed code... but it's not supported
(and based on previous discussions is unlikely to *ever* be supported).
Yes, there are challenges associated with the additional dependencies
which managed code drags into the picture, but why on earth do Microsoft
insist on regularly giving us shiny new tools for application
development while not providing similar support (as far as I can tell)
in the management and deployment area? I know that some members of the
Installer team read this list. Would any of you care to comment?
