Burn is a thing that I dreamed would make it in WiX v3.0 but it didn't (http://robmensching.com/blog/archive/2008/06/06/Proposed-adjustments-the-WiX-v2-and-WiX-v3-roadmap.aspx). Since then Bob and I have kicked things about a little and now we are thinking about making it the focus of a WiX v3.5.
I'm working on a comprehensive write-up about thoughts for WiX v3.0 and v3.5 and v4.0 (i.e. roadmap for next couple years). I've just been a little buried lately (http://robmensching.com/blog/archive/2008/08/15/When-it-changes-it-pours-again.aspx). <smile/> My current hope is that Burn is well under development by first month of next year. That is largely dependent on how quickly we kill off all of the WiX v3 bugs.
