I also have a home-made tool for generating components. I have another tool that generates a complete wix file after you specify directory structure and files within the directories. It's used to to most of the grunt work and then the rest is done by hand. (UI based.) It would be fantastic if someone wrote the extension that made it easy to author VS packages or wrote a harvester so heat could generate much of it automatically. At the very least, you could open a Feature Request. 2. This is a particular challenge with the Windows Installer due to the Component Rules. If you have a solution for including large number of files that does not violate the Component Rules that'd be a great thing to add to the WiX toolset. 3. Documentation always needs lots of work. <smile/> Are you offering to help improve it? Many people make this suggestion, no one steps up to help.
