Hi I think the reason is that by using "one file, one component" you should be able to upgrade a component with a new release upgrading package and leave the rest non-changed files, so the installation will be a lot faster as unnecessary deleting, uncompressing og copying files can be avoided. However I havn't ever tried this in a real environment.
