Hi, After playing around with heat some more, I think I found out the answers to my own questions:
1. The identifiers are not random GUIDs but hash codes which are uniquely determined by the path. This naming scheme is more robust than the previous one in which an ordinal number was appended to the file name in order to distinguish it from identically named files sitting in different directories. These ordinal numbers could change when files with the same name were added or removed. 2. Use the -cg flag.
