WiX's <CopyFile> element can copy arbitrary files to arbitrary directories. You can reference the installation MSI via the OriginalDatabase Windows Installer property.

On the server there's a file share for the client setup files. Thus the server setup routine should copy the setup files for the client to this file share. Is there a best practice for solving such a setup scenario? Currently there are two msi packages. One for the client and one for the server. The server contains the client package as file. But I'd like to have a single setup file, which allows me to select if it should install the client or the server. So the file would have to copy itself to the client setup share. Any thoughts on this problem? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- vRanger cuts backup time in half-while increasing security.
