After some googling, the schema appears to live in wix.xsd.
On my machine this is installed to C:\Program Files\Windows Installer XML
v3.5\doc\wix.xsd
which is identical to what's in
<YourVisualStudioInstallDirectory>\Xml\Schemas\wix.xsd
