Writing documentation required a depth of knowledge which I don't presently have. The WiX documentation suffers from presuming the user already has a deep understanding.
Take a look at "Fundamental Tools and Concepts". There's NOTHING there! No concepts at all! It's nothing more than a list of lists. Given the name of the section, one might think reading it would lead to a better understanding of WiX. One would be wrong. Right afterward is "Creating Installation Package Bundles". With a little reading on that page we learn that a bundle is a *collection* of installation packages. Well, that's all well and good. But do I need to do that if I only have a collection with one member? And how do I make each of those installation packages? Not a word. We go from the "Fundamental Concept" that WiX is a list of things we don't understand, to putting a bunch of stuff we don't know how to make into a larger thing we're not sure we need. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This SF.net email is sponsored by Windows: Build for Windows Store. http://p.sf.net/sfu/windows-dev2dev _______________________________________________ WiX-users mailing list WiX-users@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/wix-users
