Sorry, missed the forks of this thread. Essentially what you are asking for is that something on the system says, "This new version of the software is safe because the old software is on the machine." As Jacob mentioned there are *a lot* of security issues to consider when implementing such a system. We don't provide something like that in WiX toolset today.
