Hi, I found a workaround for issue 4087 "Bug in the Visual Studio Environment Macro Integration" (http://wixtoolset.org/issues/4087/) that I would like to add as a comment on the issue page. However, I always get an error message ("Error! Something went awry while submitting your changes. Please, try again. ") when trying to post a comment. The issue is open and I am logged in, so I have no idea what I am doing wrong. Sorry, if this mailing list is the wrong place to report these kind of problems.
Anyway, here's the original comment I wanted to post about the original issue, maybe this is helpful for someone: "I have the same problem here, $(ProjectName) and $(PlatformName) are resolved to empty string when used inside the output path. However, I found a nice workaround: Just use $(MSBuildProjectName) and $(Platform) instead. I found these macros being used inside the WiX MSBuild targets file, so I am not sure if these should be used outside of it. If you still need a MSBuild log, let me know."
