I'm using wmaker since about 6 or 7 years (iirr) and i subscribed to this list
just because i was curious what's going on. I'm not a developer and do not
understand anything of what you are doing. I just wanted to say, thank you very
much that you picked wmaker up again.

My Linux is Debian Sid, but i use to install different distributions for random
people, and try this or that myself. With different distributions, i saw many
different types of desktops and in a short glimpse, compared many more out of
curiosity, including XFCE, Enlightenment, Awesome, Fluxbox, fvwm, lwm, openbox,
Beryl / Compiz. Of course i know Plasma and Gnome Shell. (But since i'm not
using these, except plasma on another machine, it is only rudimentary.)

To me, it finally did not matter how many comfortable features all the new
stuff have, because i don't want a desktop that offers me many things to do - i
need a desktop that does things for me, and as fast as possible. I have a very
fast desktop since many years, a pure WMaker (no further desktop environment)
with customized app icons (often misused for custom scripts). And with this
customied WMaker, anything is just only one click. To my needs (speed and
straight access) even the most modern desktop is at most about as advanced as
WMaker. For example, now they have 'activities' in plasma, and guess what, with
many dedicated and configured wmaker workspaces i have nearly the same, but
since many years.

I like dock apps very much. When i tried to find it last time in Kubuntu 11, i
could not find any default app that shows network traffic in the simple but
efficient way wmifs does. (Maybe there is one in some online archive though.) I
also use asclock with a hacked theme (to have larger numbers) and just for fun,
wmspaceweather. I have special autostart and exitscript, for example dealing
with the network, and custom colors with very huge fonts, since i have large
screen.
(Attaching the theme here, feel free to archive. Although it's not obvious, it
neurologically fits to 'indigo shade' background.)

I have ideas about wmaker from the view of a long years user who really needs a
working desktop (because it is my business machine). If you need a beta tester
i'm ready to help out. Please feel free to contact me directly. If you don't
screw up with my configs, i could do it even on my daily working PC (amd64 with
OpenGL) which would be most efficient. Else, in a Xen or just another machine
(amd64 or intel686.) But i do not want to disturb your work any more now - do
not answer, just go on :)

All the best, and kind regards, Michael
