Is possible to propose a patch rewritting wm scripts (like

Possible? Certainly.
OK, I will rewrite it and then we can compare.

Not every system has Perl installed.
Do you really want to have wmaker depend on Perl ?

Hello.

I don't see why you (Kamil) say bash is harder to maintain and more error prone ?

I use and write shell scripts for nearly 10 years now, and I don't see them as hard to maintain. Shells are like every programming language, if you don't take time to learn the languages, you won't be able to understand scripts written in these languages and modify them.

Also, as Paul said, perl is not installed on every system, and in case the scripts further modules, it can cause installing a lot a dependencies to replace a script which depended only on a shell and maybe 2-3 binaries (like grep, sed for example).

If you want to rewrite it, no problem, go on with it, but I think it will be a complete waste of time.

Thanks.
