First, thanks Rodolfo, Paul, and Boris for your help setting up
WindowMaker.
Thanks Dan, but don't forget Carlos! He did the main work.
I cannot help with the WINGs part and the links. I am forwarding the
mail to wmaker-dev.
kix.
Per Rodolfo, i downloaded 0.95.2, compiled it, and am using it now
(with some help
from the debian people).
So the next sort of obvious step is software.
There's a FAQ that comes with 0.95.2, and i assume that this should
be the latest information.
It makes a couple of references to wings:
It mentions a web site
http://members.ozemail.com.au/~crn/wm/wings.html
for which i get a 404.
It also gives a subscription address to a mailing list
[email protected]
that bounced when i tried it.
The page http://windowmaker.org/wings.php does give a reference
to a tutorial
http://www.quantitativefinanceservices.com/OpenDir/WINGslib/WINGToc.html
dating apparently from 2010.
I don't know if that's the best current reference or not, but if
anybody
has used it please let me know (and thanks). Likewise if there are
any
mailing lists or forums connected with wings.

PS: I guess there's this obvious question of why not just use
GNUstep,
and the answer is that i might (as i do like objective-C), but i want
to try
a minimal force approach first, if possible, and avoid setting up too
much of an apparatus if i can, at least at first.
