I found the upgraded 'cifs-utils' package in both the 'deb
http://ftp.debian.org/debian/ sid main' and 'deb
http://ftp.debian.org/debian/ wheezy main' repositories with no 'smbfs'
package to be found in either. I'm somewhat new to all of this - Is this
normal or a repository issue?
One can successfully install 'smbfs' in a 'wmlive_2012-06-11-0236-amd64'
installation simply by dropping 'main' in the list of repositories
referenced above. Just make sure to restore the 'main' references after
you're done installing 'smbfs'
