i mad a copy of the wmii conifg-files unter /etc/
these are (wmii-2 with ~x86 under gentoo)

the file rc.conf is mentioned in the article and i have it installed.
wmii -v gives:
wmiiwm - window manager improved 2 - 2 (xlib)
(C)opyright MMIV-MMV Anselm R. Garbe
anything wrong with this?
for wmii-3 i have to install a new kernel, i give it a try this weekend.

really? years ago i used it, too. found it very limited in its config

rc.conf? i think you use the wrong config file. rc.conf is AFAIR from
wmi-10 or so. in wmii it should be wmirc (or wmiirc with wmii-3). there
Up, Down etc should work fine
