As long as tabs scale well (<5), a similiar number of stacking tagbars will consume slightly more space, but this space is not such a big deal if you work with at least 1024x768 pixels. And also, the column layout is *NOT* finished yet, the maxclient stuff is on its way which will provide larswm-alike pushing among columns.
