In my book that is a good thing, the further away from the "desktop
metaphor" we are, the better.

While I do think it is fine to toss everything aside and so something completely different (after all, this isn't for everyone), the "desktop metaphor" does have some useful things it can teach us. I think it is unwise to blindly try to get away from it.
