Both of them are absolutely great. Thats the thing i missed the most
in the original wmiirc.
Some differences from the default configuration are:
- - The numeric select ($MODKEY-[0-9]) and sendto
($MODKEY-Shift-[0-9]) shortcuts operate on views shown on the bar,
instead of absolute tag names. They also correspond to the
conventional horizontal arrangement of number keys: 1234567890 (left
to right).
This is wonderfull. This is a way to select named views in a fast an
convenient way. I really like it!
When you sendto a nonexistent view, the view is created by wmii, as
expected.
- - The shortcut keys are friendly for a Kinesis Advantage keyboard
with Dvorak layout. :-P
Okay, I changed it back to hjkl-layout...
I have some points about the script as such:
The split of the MODKEY-variable seems to be overkill. It made me lots
of troubles when I changed modkey to "Control-t,". Anyways, with that
script you made me (a perl programmer) use ruby.... . When I have time
I'll write a wmiirc in perl though.
Anyways, great work! Could you rewrite wmii.rb to work on the socket
directly instead of calling wmiir everytime? Maybe that would give a
little more speadup.
