Well, but using it for my wmiirc means that I actually see some effect
after having done something in Ruby.  With this link, I just see some
characters on the screen, but it doesn't affect my day-to-day work.

I'll try yours first.  Perhaps I'm not ready for that added complexity
just yet :-)
