I just got home (midnight PST) and am seeing this without having read the first posts in the thread, but the topic line is obvious.
And you know what? FUCK ALL THAT. that said, Damon, you get it. I have a job. At least as of today. We'll see about tomorrow. I just got home from a gathering of my S.O.'s family, with the patriarch just having suffered a stroke. The S.O. himself was laid off in September, leaving me supporting us both. We're "restructuring" editorial at my place of employment, not because anyone's being laid off but because of a misguided (IMO) web site redesign (tom knows). My alleged "boss" isn't cooperating with the "restructuring" so I'm caught between him and another editor in trying to make the damn thing *work* and had a head explosion moment this afternoon with said uncooperative immediate supervisor. Lets just say voices were raised and leave it at that. Just before I found out about the putative father in laws stroke. fuck free republic. fuck pacifica radio. fuck the right. fuck the left. fuck the conspiracy loons. FUCK EM ALL. I'm grateful for my friends and family, and my job if not the assclowns I have to work with. I may not be going to bed amused tonight but I am totally cool with being able to fill my gas tank for less than $25, because I'm using it to run off to Oregon for Xmas week. Because I CAN.
