Outside my window the snow on the ground That used to be sugar, the salt melted brown And the fairy lights strung on the fire escape Are broken and flapping like old cassette tape
The bells on the block toll mournfully slow I’m wearing a coat but there’s nowhere to go Since you’ve been gone there’s no holiday cheer xmas ain’t coming this year And why ... Do they lie? There’s no joy in the world Grandma and her church group flew off to Rome Dad and that woman have a newborn at home My brother would visit he wrote in the mail, But if he quits rehab he’s going to jail Radiators stop when the wind starts to blow So I’m wearing a coat but there’s nowhere to go I’m stuck without you, My red-nosed reindeer Xmas ain’t coming this year And why ... Do they lie?
