And now that I've thought about it, I'll bet that even the ubiquitous "over-the-shoulder box" has deep historical roots. Unless human nature has changed more than I think in the last couple of thousand years, I'll bet that even HOMER used "visual aids" (if he was really blind, perhaps he travelled with someone like "Donna", a.k.a.
