Don Hewitt, the creator of CBS's "60 Minutes," reportedly has been given a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.
The 86-year-old plans to go the hospital Friday to begin treatment for the disease, newspaper columnist Liz Smith reported. Hewitt told Smith he planned to receive a stent at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. It was unclear whether he would be treated with radiation or surgery, but doctors did not think the cancer had spread to other organs, Hewitt told he New York Times. He added that the prognosis was good and that he has "faith in Sloan- Kettering."
