I went last week to see it, and I was more than impressed....it took 30 years and 11 movies to finally get it all right. (and this can never replace the other films....there can never be another one as good as "The Wrath of Khan", "The Voyage Home" and "First Contact.)
The FX was what really impressed me. And on top of that, the respect granted to the previously established franchise as a whole really impressed me. And Nimoy's performance was perfect....it's as if it were only yesterday instead of 18 years ago when he last put on the ears. All in all, it is worth going to see in theaters....again and again. From: Donna Christiansen Sent: Sunday, May 17, 2009 8:01 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Star Trek Movie Finally saw the movie this weekend (okay went back and watched it a second time the next day). Impressed, they reinvented the franchise and the curse of the odd number movies is broken. They can now use the alternative universe to create an entirely new set of movies and not have to explain anything that diverges from the original. Majel Barrett is the computer voice, she is listed in the credits at the very end. I noticed it when young Jim Kirk ended up in an escape pod on some planet and the computer gave a status to him. Definitely 5 kernels, do they go that high? >From a Star Trek fan from way, way, back then. I still have my Star Trek >Concordance! Funny part now is explaining this to my children who love to watch Next Generation and really haven't watched the original series. They are full of questions on warp drive and black holes etc, etc, etc. Donna C. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "World News Now Discussion List" group.
