This precipitated one of the few Tokyo live reports (Margaret Connelly (sp?)) that I can remember since the "Business News from Tokyo" days. Anyone remember any other?
-Doug Elrod ([email protected]) P.S. Hearing about the rating agencies being grilled in Congress, it struck me that the problems with them would largely go away if they were just transformed into "bookies", of a sort. Simply have them be the only ones allowed to issue the (*also* troublesome) "credit default swaps", and if their "ratings" (seen via how they price the CDS's) are correct their profits will be maximized, just the same as a skillful bookmaker! And there would be no problem making such ratings public. Has this been proposed before? --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "World News Now Discussion List" group.
