For better or worse, the CBS television network
has picked up a new version of the 1970s (1968-1980)
telvision series Hawaii Five O.
That's the bad news. The promos for it, which are appearing
with a frequency and intensity that would make speeches
by Hugo Chavez seem tame in comparison, make it look like
a hip'ed up version of the original, with the usual
stupid plots, bad acting, and special effects that
we can see in a hundred others.
The good news is... that part of the promotion involves
showing a couple dozen of the originals.
Just caught an episode with a Real Men's Car in a chase
with the speedometer hitting 120, and then some.
They're running pretty steadily on the cable channel "Spike tv"
(not to be confused with Spike Lee).
I give the new series one season based on the exotic
local scenery. They might squeak out a second.
