The great bridge switch is on.

The new Willis Avenue Bridge, connecting Manhattan to The Bronx over the Harlem River, is open today.

It took $612 million to replace the 109-year-old "swing" bridge, which shut down at 2 a.m., with a new span.

The old bridge will soon be floated down the Harlem and East rivers to New Jersey to be recycled.
