September 8 marks the 50th anniversary of the premiere of "Star Trek" on
NBC at 8:30pm. "The Man Trap" (the one with the salt vampire) was the
first aired, as a week-early sneak peek. The '66 season didn't
officially start until 9/15.
Someone did upload the 1966 NBC season preview special

used to do that, along with a prime-time special promoting the Saturday
morning cartoons.
