You’re right that there was some attempt at ‘hyperlocal’ news coverage
something like a decade ago that came and went without doing anything and I
don’t remember the name either. Hm.
… Though come to think of it, might it have been Patch itself that
you’re thinking of? Wikipedia says the company started in 2007, got bought by
AOL in 2009, reports of bad working conditions by 2010, and massive layoffs and
declaration of its public failure by 2013.
