About five years ago we had a discussion here
regarding the whole "E and I" tv silliness, where
programs were qualified as "educational and
informational" so as to fill out the requirements
of tv licensees to, well, do something.

I had brought up the tv show "The Inspectors" [a],
which followed the life and advetures of US Postal
Service Inspectors, starring Jessica Lundy and
a further cast of unknowns

Other folk here pointed out that "Saved by the Bell'
also fell into this category...

Anyway, the reason I'm wasting everyone's time is
to point out a _Very Curious_ story in DC, where
a bunch of folk, claiming to be part of Dep't
of Homeland Security, were bribing US Secret
Service agents and lots of other law enforcement
folk, giving them money and gifts and... fancy
apartments.

Yes, really.

This had been going on for years, but was finally
broken when.. a US Postal Inspector, investigating
an attack on a postal worker in that building, got
a bit suspicious...

(Lots, LOTS, of questions here [b])

[a] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Inspectors

[b] brings to mind those claims that on Jan 6th, VP Pence
supposedly, when the Secret Service tried getting
him into a car and uot of the area, told the
agent something like "Jim, I know and trust you,
but I don't know these other folk so I'm staying
   right here" [c]

[c] which, of course, dregs up that scene near the
end of the movie "Six Days of the Condor":
Joubert: You have not much future there. It will happen
this way. You may be walking. Maybe the first sunny day
of the spring. And a car will slow beside you, and a
door will open, and someone you know, maybe even
trust, will get out of the car. And he will smile, a
becoming smile. But he will leave open the door of the car
and offer to give you a lift.
