Nexstar owns/operates about 100 tv stations, plus lots of thises and thatses.
Their flagship station is WGN in Chicago, and they've got WPIX in NYC. A couple of years ago they announced another attempt to re-create a CNN by having a central studio or two in Chicago (and wherever Dan Abrams is coming from) and handing over the camera to whatver neighborhoodr the local reporter was in. Note they're ONLY cable/satellite, with no "over the air" carriage. Kind of a good idea, but tv news graveyards are filled with these.... But yeah, we were rooting for them. Alas, while they claim to be unbiased and an objective alternative to the others, etc., etc. Eyup. Fox Light. (Check out their hiring of... Bill Shine [a]) Oh, and in what, I dunno, the only reason I can even pretend to understand why is.. money laundering... they just hired and are promo'ing Chris Cuomo. Sigh. Anyway, it looks like they're about to face some super heavy finance crash issues. They've been flashing alerts on the screen calling out for us to "wire Congress!"... well, actually it's "Call Verizon" which, apparently, is threatening to kick them off the FIOS feeds. No doubt it's a finance issue as to how much money Verizon would pay for the programming or... any of the other crazy quilt of back and forths in regard to money transfers, but it's looking pretty iffy. There's very little customer demand for News Nation..
