Dan, I have updated Jira WODEN-137 with some background to the QName deserialization problem and proposed a solution to resolve it. Can you please have a go at this and send me a patch.
The gist of it is: extract the test method in question , QNameTest.testGoodDeserializeQNameWithoutPrefix(), into a separate test class called QNameDeserializeTest and exclude this from the Maven continuum build, but include the QNameTest class.
