I've applied Randy's patches, and apart from a couple of outstanding issues I
think we're ready to go. If we can have some more folks testing the branch
before we merge it back in that would be very much appreciated - the changes
touched a lot of places in the code and so I'm sure we'll have missed something.
A big thanks to Randy for his fantastic work on this - it should remove the
last barrier to making a release, and moves us a step closer to graduation.
