C3P0 uses an LGPL license, which means it cannot be distributed with an ASF
release; see http://www.apache.org/legal/resolved.html#category-x
C3P0 is only used in Start.java to run the database connection in
standalone/developer mode; this could be replaced using one of the commons-DBCP
DataSource implementations
