Beef with Mushrooms 1 clove garlic, 3 T. oil Salt Pepper to taste 1 1/2 lbs. round steak, trimmed of fat, cut in 1/8" slices 3 T. diced onion 1 1/2 cup beef broth or bouillon 1/2 lb. fresh mushrooms, peeled and sliced 3 T. cornstarch 1 T. soy sauce Put oil in skillet; cook gently with the garlic for about 2 minutes and remove garlic. Add seasoned steak slices and onion. Cook over medium heat. Stir constantly until meat is nicely browned. Add beef broth and sliced mushrooms. Cover pan tightly and cook gently for about 10 minutes. Add the soy sauce to the cornstarch with enough water to make a think paste. Mix well into the broth, cook over low heat. Stir constantly until broth is thickened.
