Give yourself time. Your mother didn't learn to be the cook you knew in one day, either. I barely cooked when I got married in 1970, but eventually became quite a good hand in the kitchen. One of my daughters is really into cooking, one lets her husband do most of the cooking, and one is now taking cooking lessons. That's good, for now.
