(((((Mercury)))))

Thank you very much for being here with us. You are one of the bigger
gold medals. Your message gave me one of the lessons that I will try
to learn in 2009. I think I am ready to learn it.

A little story that happened in August. All people in my camp in
Chengdu were seriously injured, not seriously enough to stay in a
hospital, but seriously enough to go to hospital several days a week
for examination and recovery. I did not receive a whole training
because I arrived one day on delay, but I had a briefing. Many
statements in one hour or so that I had to think about and digest
myself. I remember all, but right now, I want to post two of them.

I was told. You are not a boss to tell people what to do, nobody gave
you such authority. You are not a nurse, you have not skills. You are
not a mother, they are wise adults who can decide by themselves. And
other thoughts like that. And finally I was told you are just a human
being who came here to help other fellow human beings who are exactly
as you are, many would do the same if cirsumstances would reverse. The
only difference between you and them is that your body is complete.
Those who lost one or two legs just need your legs, those who lost one
or two arms just need your arms. And all your compassion.

And the second thought. Who deserves more compassion a girl with two
legs or a girl who lost one leg? Who deserves more compassion a man
with two arms or a man with one arm? Among them, who is more human
being and who is less human being? Conclusion. You have to pay more
attention to some people than to others because some need more help
than others, your cold mind has to ponder. But all of us deserve all
your compassion, there is not a first class and a second class in
humanity.

They learned while I did. Spontaneously, they built their gangs up for
mutual help and we became just aditional members of their gangs. They
helped me a lot to understand that briefing.

That briefing was one of the three lessons that I tried to learn in
2008.

Now, I think that I am ready to learn your thought along this year "We
all have our faults, some more so than others, But non the-less we all
do." I bet it will be one of the two or three lessons that I have to
learn this year.

Thank you very much for everything.

Peace and best wishes.
